Math is a subject that is comprehensive.
For that reason, it is very important to get off to a good start. It is
much better to ask for help early in the school year. If parents need to
schedule a conference, please call 347-2215 and schedule a time with the
counselor, Mrs. Jessie.
My e-mail address at school is <vfarris@enterpriseschools.net>. I usually
check my e-mail early each morning and before leaving school. If possible,
I'll respond to your e-mails before I leave school that day, however, it may be
the next school day.
Questions
about what is the homework can be found on the homework hotline.
The
telephone number is 347-0235. CODES: General
Math - 0005 Introduction to Algebra -
0105 (I try to put homework in each Monday for the entire week.)
A math newsletter is sent home the first day of school with guidelines and
procedures for homework.
Our textbook can
be accessed online and students can take self-graded online quizzes as extra
practice. Information with the website and password will be sent home at
the first of the year. This is great for when your child 'forgets' his/her
textbook at school and also great as a tutorial.
-
Students are required to take notes daily in a
spiral notebook. They DO have tests on notes (using
the notes!).
-
Students will have homework daily. After
all, math is best learned by PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!!!!!
-
Students will have small quizzes about twice a
week and chapter tests upon chapter completion.
-
Extra credit is given a little at a time and
spread throughout the grading period - none at the end of the grading period
as a last ditch effort.
For a more detailed list of
guidelines and procedures, please refer to the math newsletter. Please
keep the newsletter handy (in the notebook) for quick reference.
Thank you for your interest and remember, contact me
if you deem it necessary.
HAVE A TERRIFIC YEAR!
