Welcome to
the World of Math! Math is a subject that builds on itself. It is very important
to get off to a good start early in the year. If help is needed, please ask as
early as possible . Parents can schedule a conference by calling the school at
347-2215. Our counselor, Mrs. Jessie, will schedule the conference for you.
My email address at
school is
grogers@enterpriseschools.net. I check my email every morning
and every afternoon. I will try to respond as soon as possible, but it may be
the next day before I can.
I try to put the
homework on the Homework Hotline on Monday for the week.( I usually do this at
night, so it may not be ready after school on Mondays) A newsletter was sent
home with the students with the guidelines and procedures for the homework and
the corrections. If you have any questions about these procedures, you can email
me.
Our textbook can be
accessed online and the students can take self-graded quizzes online for extra
practice. The information for the website and password will be sent home with
the students. This is a wonderful tool for when you child "forgets" his/her
textbook at school. This is also a great tutorial.
- Students are required to take notes daily
in a notebook. A three ring binder with subject dividers will be needed. The
sections should be: Problem of the Day, Notes, Homework, CLUE, and Graph
Paper. They DO have tests on notes (using
the notes!!)
- Students will have homework daily. After
all, math is best learned by PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!!!!
- Students will have small quizzes all
through the chapters. We average about 2 per week. The chapter tests are at
the end of each chapter.
Extra credit is given a
little at a time and spread throughout the grading period - none is given at the
end of the grading period as a last ditch effort.

keep the newsletter handy, preferably in the notebook, for quick reference.
